The language of communication across the fellowship is English. You will communicate with faculty members and fellows in English throughout the programme. This means that your proficiency must be more than conversational.
It is not. If you have more than five years of experience and can demonstrate a high level of motivation and self-organisation, your application will be considered.
For applicants who are younger than 25, your application will be considered if you have more than five years of experience and can demonstrate an impressive resume.
The program requires a high level of discipline and self-organisation alongside a focused practice. We believe that artists who have maintained their practice for five or more years demonstrate these values, therefore it is a requirement.
No, the final selection however will include a multitude of perspectives within the cohort of fellows. Hence we aim to support 4 projects grounded within the African continent, 2 projects that take Asia as a starting point, 1 project from Latin America, and 1 from anywhere on the globe.
A steady connection which can facilitate video-conferencing is required. The stipend can be used to cover internet expenses, where possible.
No, the fellowship welcomes a variety of practices.
Digital Earth invites artists, musicians, and creatives from different geographies and disciplines who are interested in the planetary sensorium to apply.
The Digital Earth Fellowship does not offer a formal degree or diploma. Fellows will be provided a certificate of professional excellence on the successful completion of their fellowship, by ArtEZ University of the Arts, The Netherlands, endorsed by the participating partners and collaborators. This certificate is an acknowledgement of the work done by the fellows and does not hold equivalence to a diploma or a degree granted by an education programme.
All costs related to the project, such as production and travel costs, are covered by the stipend.
Due to COVID19 we have not planned any travels in 2020, and we are unsure whether this would be possible in 2021.
The stipend will be transferred to your bank account. Upon acceptance we will draw up a contract and secure your banking details.
We expect the fellow to have an active studio practice and dedicate a minimum of 24 hours a week to the fellowship. Traveling might complicate this.
There is no need to offer accommodation due to the online nature of the program.
Applicants are expected to have an existing active studio practice, and therefore the program requires that the applicant has a studio space available prior to the commencement of the program.
The Faculty will be announced over the course of the next months.
For further information on the program, we encourage you to check our website, our articles on our Medium page, and our social media outlets where we will keep you updated (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).
No, this is not a production grant. The program supports your practice. However, you are expected to present insights into your practice.

No, the stipend remains the same.
A duo applies in a similar manner as an individual. You fill out one application template, using the first question (artist statement) to expand on your practice as a duo. Yet, you should submit separate CVs. Everything else should reflect on your common practice as much as possible.
We expect that the applicant will dedicate at least 24 hours a week to the fellowship.
